Daily Prompt: Stroke of Midnight

Where were you last night when 2012 turned into 2013? Is that where you’d wanted to be?

Last night, i went to church by 11pm. Normally, i attend a Pentecostal church, but because i live with my aunt now, i go to a Catholic church with her. Anyways, the mass ended about 5 minutes to 12 (11:55PM). And then they started something; Adoration, i think. With the stroke of midnight, i was surrounded by people who were solemnly praying. It ws as if nobody noticed that we just entered another year.

This was a whole new experience for me. Back in my church at  Nigeria, immediately it turned 12, we would all greet each other happy New Year. After about 5 minutes of Greetings, we would pray for sometime. After praying, the choir would lead us with good music and we will all dance, while the Fireworks go off. That was usually fun for me. As i sat in the church last night looking at the people around me, i just kept wishing i was back at home.

Happy New year!!!

  1. Adoration is a solemn meditation being with God. Quietly celebrating internally the joy of being able to survive another year. No music, no dancing. I will miss Nigeria too with all the festivities. Keep that memories alive, Miss Pretty. It’s a gold mine.

  2. I like your version better. We need to recognize that a new year of hope faith and love are with us. Thanks for the ping back my friend
